Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture

Although auricular acupuncture dates back to the same era as body acupuncture, it wasn't well developed until the 1950s when Dr. Paul Nogier, a French physician tested and systematized over 100 different points in the ear that correspond to various bodily systems, regions, and organs. Since then, the practice and study of ear acupuncture has been deepened and expanded by Frank Bahr M.D. and physical medicine specialists in Germany.

The ear is the first organ to develop to its full size, and becomes fully functional at about 18 weeks after conception. It is one of a few anatomical structures composed of tissue from each of the 3 primary types (endo, ecto, mesoderm) in the developing embryo. This gives its ability to represent all areas and systems of the body.

Ear acupuncture can be administered as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with body acupuncture. If it's used alone, treatment sessions can last up to 45 minutes.
